Certain small surgical procedures can be performed safely at the practice, avoiding the need for a hospital visit. Recovery is usually quick and most patients return to normal activities within a few days. You will first need to see a GP for diagnosis and referral before an appointment is made for your procedure. Please note: we do not offer minor surgery for cosmetic purposes.

Procedures Available
at the Practice

Our GPs are trained and equipped to carry out a range of minor surgical procedures on-site, meaning faster treatment and a more comfortable experience for patients.

⚠️ Important: Minor surgery at Saluja Clinic is available for clinical and diagnostic purposes only. We do not perform minor surgery for cosmetic reasons. All procedures require a prior GP consultation for diagnosis and referral.
Cryotherapy

Treatment using liquid nitrogen to freeze and destroy abnormal tissue. Commonly used for warts, verrucae, and certain benign skin lesions. Quick and effective with minimal recovery time.

Skin Treatment
Excision of Skin Lesions

Surgical removal of suspicious, symptomatic, or bothersome skin lesions under local anaesthetic. Removed tissue is sent for histological analysis where clinically indicated.

Excision
Sebaceous Cyst Removal

Removal of blocked sebaceous glands that have formed into cysts beneath the skin. Performed under local anaesthetic with a small incision. Usually heals quickly with minimal scarring.

Cyst Removal
Mole & Lesion Biopsy

Where a mole or pigmented lesion requires further investigation, a biopsy or excision can be performed to allow pathological examination. This is carried out for diagnostic purposes, not cosmetic removal.

Biopsy / Diagnostic
Ingrown Toenail Treatment

Surgical correction of ingrowing toenails, which may include partial or total nail avulsion under local anaesthetic. A highly effective procedure with excellent long-term outcomes when conservative management has failed.

Nail Procedure
Wound Closure & Suturing

Closure of lacerations and wounds requiring sutures. Our GP team ensures clean closure to minimise infection risk and optimise healing. Sutures are removed at a follow-up appointment once healing is confirmed.

What to Expect

Minor surgery at the practice follows a clear two-step pathway designed to ensure your safety, comfort, and confidence throughout.

01
Initial GP Consultation

Before any surgical procedure, you must first see one of our GPs for a diagnostic consultation. The doctor will examine the area, confirm the clinical indication, and explain the recommended procedure, including its risks and benefits. You'll have the opportunity to ask questions and give informed consent.

02
Preparation & What to Bring

Once referred for surgery, you'll be given a dedicated appointment. Please wear comfortable, loose clothing that allows easy access to the area being treated. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours beforehand and let us know about any medications, allergies, or blood-thinning drugs you are taking.

03
The Procedure

Procedures are carried out under local anaesthetic, so the area will be numb and you should feel no pain — only mild pressure. The treatment room is prepared to clinical standards. Most minor procedures take between 15 and 45 minutes from preparation to completion, depending on complexity.

04
Leaving the Practice

You'll receive verbal and written aftercare instructions before you leave. Most patients can drive or travel home independently, though we recommend bringing someone with you if you feel anxious. The anaesthetic will wear off within a few hours — mild discomfort afterwards is normal and manageable with over-the-counter pain relief.

Aftercare & Recovery

Following your procedure, careful aftercare is important to ensure the best possible healing outcome and reduce the risk of infection or complications.

Keep the area clean and dry For the first 24–48 hours, avoid wetting the wound. Keep the dressing clean and dry, and follow the specific instructions given at your appointment.
Dressing changes Your GP will advise you on how often to change your dressing. In most cases a nurse appointment can be arranged at the practice for this purpose. Do not remove sutures yourself.
Signs of infection to watch for Contact us promptly if you notice increasing redness, swelling, warmth, discharge, or if you develop a fever. Early treatment of infection is important.
Pain management Mild discomfort for 24–48 hours post-procedure is normal. Paracetamol or ibuprofen (if appropriate for you) can be taken as directed. Avoid aspirin unless prescribed, as it may increase bleeding.
Suture removal If your procedure involved sutures, a follow-up appointment will be arranged for their removal — usually between 5 and 14 days, depending on the site and procedure type.
When to Contact Us

If you have any concerns following your procedure, please don't hesitate to get in touch with the practice. Our team is here to support your recovery.
