From your child's first immunisations to preparing for overseas travel, our practice nurses provide expert vaccination advice and care for patients of all ages.

Childhood Immunisations

Vaccination is the single most effective thing a parent can do to protect their child from serious infectious disease. Our nursing team follows the full NHS childhood immunisation schedule, recording every jab in your child's Red Book.

NHS Childhood Vaccination Schedule

12 weeks NHS6-in-1 (2nd), Rotavirus (2nd), PCV
16 weeks NHS6-in-1 (3rd), MenB (2nd)

2–3 years NHSFlu vaccine (annual, nasal spray)
3 yrs 4 mths NHS4-in-1 pre-school booster, MMR (2nd dose)
12–13 years NHSHPV vaccine (2 doses, girls & boys)
14 years NHS3-in-1 teenage booster, MenACWY
📖 Your child's Red Book (Personal Child Health Record) contains their immunisation schedule. Please bring it to every appointment so our nurses can keep it up to date.
Why Vaccinate on Time?

Vaccinating at the right age protects your child as early as possible and significantly reduces the risk of serious infection. Delaying jabs — even by a few weeks — leaves a window of vulnerability, particularly for newborns.

The NHS schedule has been carefully designed to maximise protection at each stage of development. Following it precisely gives your child the best possible immunity.

Herd Immunity

High vaccination rates across the community protect those who cannot be vaccinated — including very young babies, pregnant women, and people with certain medical conditions. When enough people are vaccinated, diseases can no longer spread easily.

How to Book

Childhood vaccination appointments are offered automatically when due. You will receive an invitation letter. If you have missed an appointment, please call us on 0208 574 5136 to reschedule as soon as possible — it is never too late to catch up.

💉 All childhood vaccines on the NHS schedule are completely free of charge at Saluja Clinic.

Flu Vaccination

Each autumn, Saluja Clinic offers the seasonal flu vaccine to all eligible at-risk patients — free on the NHS. Flu can be serious; vaccination is the best protection for you and those around you.

Am I eligible for a free NHS flu jab?
Adults aged 65 and over
Pregnant women at any stage of pregnancy
Adults with a serious heart or chest condition, including asthma
People with serious kidney disease or liver disease
Patients with diabetes (Type 1 or Type 2)
Those with lowered immunity due to disease or treatment (e.g. steroids, chemotherapy)
People who have ever had a stroke or TIA
Children aged 2–3 years (nasal spray) and primary school-age children
Not sure if you're eligible? Call us on 0208 574 5136 and our reception team will check for you.
70%
Vaccine Effectiveness The flu vaccine reduces your risk of catching flu by around 40–60%, and significantly reduces severity even if you do get it.
1wk
How Long Does It Take? After your jab, it takes around one week to build full protection. It is therefore important to get vaccinated before flu season peaks, ideally between September and November.
When will my invitation arrive?

We invite eligible patients for their flu jab each September to November. You will receive a text message, letter, or call from us when your vaccination is due. If you believe you are eligible and haven't heard from us, please don't wait — contact the surgery directly to book.

Pneumococcal Vaccination

The pneumococcal vaccine — sometimes called the "pneumo jab" or pneumonia vaccine — protects against serious infections including pneumonia, septicaemia and meningitis caused by the Streptococcus pneumoniae bacterium.

Who Should Have the Pneumococcal Vaccine?
All children under 2 years of age (given as part of routine schedule)
Adults aged 65 years and over
Children and adults with certain long-term health conditions (e.g. serious heart or kidney conditions)
ℹ️ Unlike the flu vaccine, the pneumococcal vaccine is not given annually. Most people only need it once. If you are unsure whether you have had it, please ask at reception.
Vaccine Schedule
Babies (part of routine immunisation)
Received as three separate injections at 2 months, 4 months, and 12–13 months. This is included automatically as part of your child's standard NHS vaccination schedule.
Adults aged 65 and over
A single vaccination that provides lifelong protection. It does not need to be repeated and is not given annually like the flu jab.
People with long-term health conditions
Depending on your underlying health condition, you may need a one-off vaccination or a vaccination repeated every five years. Your GP will advise which applies to you.

Travel Vaccinations & Advice

Planning a trip abroad? Our practice nurse can assess your destination-specific health risks and advise on the right vaccinations and precautions for your journey — ideally before you travel.

Book a travel health appointment with our Practice Nurse as early as possible after confirming your travel plans. Some vaccination courses require multiple doses spread over several weeks, so early booking ensures you're fully protected in time.

At your appointment, we will assess the potential health risks of your specific itinerary and tailor advice to your individual health needs, including malaria prevention if relevant.

Book a Travel Consultation

Call 0208 574 5136 or book online to arrange your pre-travel appointment with our Practice Nurse.

What we'll ask at your travel appointment
To plan the best health protection for your trip, our nurse will need to know:
1
Departure date and duration — how long are you travelling for?
2
Specific destinations — including all countries and regions you'll be visiting within them
3
Accommodation type — hotel, backpacking, camping, or staying with locals?
4
Planned activities — any high-risk activities such as trekking, water sports, or wildlife contact?
5
Travel insurance — have you informed your insurer of any existing medical conditions?
6
Pregnancy / planning — if female and of childbearing age, is there any possibility you could be or become pregnant?
7
Medical history — any existing conditions or significant past illnesses that may influence which malaria tablets or vaccines we recommend
✈️ We recommend researching travel health risks for your destination before your appointment using fitfortravel.nhs.uk — it helps us make the most of your consultation time.
